Dog Day Care

Is your dog stressed out from being left at home alone all day? When dogs are bored they can  occupy themselves by chewing: the couch, your favorite shoes or sometimes even themselves.

K9 to 5 Dog Day care service is a dog gone great way to give your dog exercise, mental stimulation and socialization with both dogs and people while you are away from home. We treat your dog as if he or she was a part of our own family.

THE CARE OF YOUR DOG IS OUR TOP PRIORITY

We’ll do everything we can to ensure your dog is happy and healthy with us so can feel confident knowing your dog will be well-cared for in our safe and secure environment:

  • We are owned and operated by a well experienced Vet tech who is very knowledgeable of dog behavior, pet first aid and CPR
  • Each boarder and day care dog is required to pass an application, be spayed or neutered, older than 6 months, and be current on vaccinations
  • You will receive pictures of your dog on their walks if you opt for them OR have them included in a boarding package of 3+ days

All dogs are required to be current on all vaccinations and on a flea prevention program!

It appears to me that your well balanced babies help my girls. My girls look relaxed with your babies. My sister said “Your girls need Erika, how long is she going to have them?” I know that “we” have to be trained, not our girls. It is so hard for me to be firm with them. Those eyes just get to me.  I’m very happy you said that my husband has to deliver and pick up the girls. This has created a bond between them, especially with Holly. something that was not there before. In the morning I say “Want to go see Erika?” Then I pick up their collars, Merlot shoves her head through the collar and Holly sits, pretty and waits for her collar to be put on then they both try to get out of the door at the same time. (I don’t think they like you, LOL) When I get home from work I ask them “Did you have fun at Erika’s?” They are all happy, both of them jumping and giving mom kisses, I love it. My husband tells me that Holly treats you like a family member. Jumping on you like she misses you so much, how wonderful is that? I can’t imagine that the humane society was going to put her down as not adoptable.
Erika….you rock!

Hi Erika,
Thank you again for your excellent care of Marley. I think of your home as a
second home for Marley. I know when he stays with you he gets the very best
care. Your daily pictures of him on his walks let me see him enjoying
himself. It is good for him to learn to get along with other dogs and you provide this for him every time he boards with you.
Sincerely,

Mary Matheson

I will try to fully express what a wonderful care provider Erika is to ANY dog who is in her care. I bring my 2 little yorkie/mixes to her and words fail me here. They are so excited when i ask them “do you want to see Erika?’ They even run to the door, before i have their leashes on! She gives them lots of attention and affection, yet is also so patient with them. What i have noticed also is how Erika accepts their different personalities. I rescued the one little fellow, my ‘dusty’ from mississipi, and Erika’s vote of confidence helped me with this. She is so good to my Daisy and Dusty. She has taken them for walks and even emails me pictures of them/ She even gave me a birthday present from my dogs to me!!

So is so much more I can say, but then i’d be writing a book. When you look at the happiness in her own dogs and those she shelters in, you see what excellent care they have. I am only too pleased to write this about Erika.
Sincerely,

Sharmyn Robinson

Thanks You for your excellent care of Simeon!

Since Simeon has been attending your day care he has learned to socialize with other dogs. His barking and separation anxiety have been decreased. Simeon really enjoys his time at K9 to 5 and Erika provides excellent care.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the more frequently asked questions we get. If you have any other questions not addressed here, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

Doggy day care is an environment where dogs are dropped off for the day to play with other dogs in a fun, safe, well-supervised and clean environment. There are many benefits to this including:

  • Provides regular exercise to maintain a healthy weight
  • Relieves boredom, separation anxiety, and destructive behavior at home
  • Improves socialization with dogs and people
  • Enhances quality of life
K9 to 5 Paws and Play will walk your dogs for an additional fee of $10 or included in a “With Walks” Multiple Day pass. Pictures of your dog/s while out walking are also posted or emailed so you can see how much they are enjoying their walks!
We will provide your dog’s medications or special feeding instructions at no extra charge. For your pet’s safety, medication must be in the original bottle and the prescription must be current.
At K 9 to 5, dogs must be able to play safely and be socialized and friendly with others. Every dog must first complete an interview and application process so we can see how they interact with other dogs. They must be over six months old, be spayed or neutered, and be current on their Rabies, Bordetella (for canine cough), and Distemper vaccinations. They must be in good general health, flea/tick free, friendly to others, and well behaved.

For overnight boarding, we need a reservation as we fill up quickly, especially during holidays. It is best to make a reservation as soon as you know you will need one. Reservations are also recommended for Day Care as well but this is more lenient. Depending on the time of year, we can often accommodate short notice or same day notice if your dog has completed the application process. Please be aware that holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas book several months in advance and other holidays book several weeks in advance. During the summer months, we fill up early for weekends so sometimes we ask for a deposit to hold your spot.

K9 to 5 Paws & Play welcomes all dogs based on their behavior and it is not our policy to turn away a dog based on breed. If your dog is friendly with good temperament and well socialized with others, they will be generally accepted into our daycare and boarding programs.

We require that dogs be at least six months old. Dogs of this age will be fully vaccinated by then to protect both them and the other daycare and boarding dogs.

K9 to 5 Paws & Play is an environment where they will be in a group with other dogs and we want to ensure your dog’s safety, and also the safety of our other boarders and day care dogs. The application & interview process also allows us to have all important information on your dog on file in case of any emergency. During the visit, your dog will be introduced to the environment and have time to get to know our premises. This visit is always free and supervised and allows you to also feel confident you are leaving your precious companion in good hands.
We require Rabies, Bordetella and Distemper vaccinations. Please provide copies of your veterinarian records for these current vaccines.
For an additional charge of $20, K9 to 5 Paws and Play offer baths and nail trims so you can pick up a clean and fresh smelling fur-iend after their stay. Boarding dogs of 3 days and over receive a complimentary bath and nail trim! Service Dogs get bath and brush for just $10!
When boarding over night or if your dog is fed mid-day, please bring your dog’s food from home. Eating their regular food keeps their stomach from getting sick during their stay.  If you wish to bring toys, bedding, treats or anything else that will help make your dog feel more at home, we certainly encourage this. We do provide treats during the day if you allow it and, if allowed, all boarders get a “Good Night” cookie before settling down for the night.

K9 to 5 Paws and Play is owned and operated by a Veterinarian Technician (University of Guelph) and as such, certified in pet first aid and CPR. We will take excellent care of your dog and have advanced skills in case of illness or injury. We quickly assess the situation to determine what plan of action to take. Our concern is always what is best for your dog/s. Depending on the situation, we will either rush your dog to the closest vet or, in non-emergency situations, we will make the effort to take them to their own vet. We have not had any serious situations other than the typical cut, scrape or bite that can happen when dogs play together, and these we treat in-house.

Yes! We offer multiple dog discounts as well as for extended stays.  Buying a Multiple day pass also gives you a great discount. Check the Multiple Day Passes page for more information.
